Two parents locked on the balcony in Puerto del Carmen

Two parents found themselves locked outside on the balcony of their upper-floor apartment in Puerto del Carmen yesterday, while their young son remained indoors.

To make matters worse, food in the oven had started to burn, filling the apartment with smoke.

Firemen arrived at the apartment on the Avenida de las Playas, where local police informed them about an open window four metres above ground that gave access to the house.

The firemen used a hook ladder to access the window, entered the apartment, opened the balcony door, turned off the oven and ventilated the apartment.
