Approximately two hundred elderly people from Yaiza enjoyed a tour of the island’s belenes in an activity organised by the Ayuntamiento.

A visit to the island’s belenes is organised every year by the Social Revitalisation Department in Yaiza which aims to allow the elderly to enjoy the culture and traditions of nativity scenes in a festive trip.

Last Sunday, December 11th, the Ayuntamiento took the group to admire the nativity scenes in Teguise, San Bartolomé, Tinajo, Tías, La Geria and Yaiza. They also enjoyed a delicious lunch at a restaurant in Tinajo.

Yaiza Councillor, Águeda Cedrés, stated that “this activity is one of the classics and we will continue doing it every year because of the reception we receive from our elders and because these nativity scenes are part of our culture.”.
