The Travellers’ Register launched by Spain’s Ministry of the Interior last Monday is functioning “normally” according to the department. Over 112,000 businesses have signed up to the SES Hospedajes platform in the first week.
106,647 of these are accommodation providers, including 39,166 apartments, 30,495 holiday rentals, 6,529 hotels and 6,465 rural homes. 1,511 car hire firms have also signed up, as well as 3,546 travel agents and 340 online platforms.
The register suffered teething problems on the day of its launch but is now working “without problems” according to the Ministry.
Businesses are required to submit details such as name, ID/passport number, telephone number, email etc, in much the same way as has been required for decades. The Ministry claims that the only new information required is a declaration of the relation between any children in a group to adults, which is a measure against abduction/trafficking.
