Canarian haulage businesses called off their strike yesterday, putting an end to fears of supply.
Members of Asemtra, The Federation of Haulage Companies, had already cancelled their strike action on the western islands in order not to affect the banana industry; and yesterday those in the Las Palmas province followed suit.
The Canarian Government has agreed to further meetings with the federation, in which rules relating to tachograph use will be discussed. However, the Canarian Goverment has always claimed that this issue is a national and European one, and is beyond the powers of regional government.
