A Scottish tourist was rescued at Famara after being caught up in a current while bathing.
Local police responded to a 112 emergency call and rescued the 58-year-old with the aid of the lifesavers on duty at Famara.
The incident took place on the San Juan beach, the surfer’s hotspot just north of Famara. Unlike the main beach at Famara there is no permanent red flag at San Juan, but bathing is still not recommended.
