The CACT tourist centres received a total of 395,536 visitors last month, an increase of 11% compared to July and the highest number of the year.

The centres have received a total of over 2 million visitors since January 1st this year. Timanfaya recorded 106,436 visitors in August, Jameos del Agua recorded 102,606 visitors and the Cueva de los Verdes recorded 71,224 visitors.

LANZAROTE’S BUSIEST MONTH EVER

Three quarters of a million people arrived at Lanzarote Airport in the month of August, an all-time record for the island.

The total of 756,534 arrivals was 4% higher than last year’s August figure, and reflects an increase that was seen throughout the Canary Islands, which received just over four million passengers in August.

9.6 million flights are available for the winter season in the Canaries (November to March), another record which could see annual records smashed on the islands.
