Thousands of pilgrims made their way to Mancha Blanca yesterday for the most important religious fiesta in Lanzarote’s calendar.

Pilgrims dressed in traditional costume arrived on foot and on horseback throughout the afternoon, gathering in the square by 7pm, when offerings of flowers and food were made to the image of Our Lady of the Volcanoes.

This was followed by folk dancing and a traditional verbena (ball) that carried on well into the small hours.
