Tinajo Mayor Jesús Machín has threatened to close off the Montañas del Fuego or go to court if his proposed solution of shuttle buses serving the tourist attraction is not addressed.
Talking to Radio Lanzarote, Machín said that the long queues to enter the island’s most popular tourist attraction were forcing tourists to urinate in the National Park. “Every day another incident occurs. The other day a coach nearly ran over a child. People can hardly move in there.”
Machín is calling for eight to twelve shuttle buses to ferry visitors to the Fire Mountains, using the carpark at Mancha Blanca as a base. However, his proposals have so far been rejected by the authorities.
