Tías Ayuntamiento yesterday presented its new Sustainable Mobility Plan for 2022 to 2030, which will give increasing priority to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.

The plan will complete the cycle-path network in Puerto del Carmen, adding cycle-paths to Calles Juan Carlos I, Anzuelo, Noruego and Reina Sofía;  and will also adapt traditional pathways to connect the towns and villages of  Masdache, Conil, La Asomada, Mácher, Tegoyo, Tías and Puerto del Carmen for cyclists.

Kerstin Kleinert, urban planner for the Doymo consulting firm which has drafted the plan, pointed out that the new cycle-path network would be for the use of locals as well as tourists. “Currently, 67% of school journeys are made by car. We want to reduce those percentages,” she said.

Among the plans are the creation of parking areas which will be connected to a circular bus service serving the Avenida de las Playas, as well as the hospital in Arrecife.
