Tías is looking a lot redder these days after three central roads have been marked as priority cycling roads where motor vehicles are limited to a 30 kph speed limit.

The roads in question are Tias’s Avenida Central, Calle Libertad  and Calle Fraternidad. The aim of the project, which has cost €55,000, is to encourage use of cycles in the town centre.

Mobility councillor Sergio García said “With this system, bicycles can occupy the centre of the lane to increase their visibility and safety, and give greater confidence to users,” adding that vehicles must adapt their speed and behaviour to the presence of cyclists.
