The Three Kings, Gaspar, Melchor and Baltasar arrived on Lanzarote yesterday, passing through the whole island and managing to appear in several places at the same time.

The largest procession was at Arrecife, where local police claim that 10,000 people turned out to cheer on the Kings as they swayed by on their camels, pelting excited children with boiled sweets.

Most of the parades took place on the traditional camels, but at certain points of the day the Kings were also seen hanging out of the back of cars, parping their hooters.

Later, their majesties got down to the serious business of leaving presents for children to find this morning, and will now take a well-earned rest for another year.

Today’s public holiday brings the Christmas season on the island to an end. It’s been an absolutely amazing season, with buzzing resorts and hundreds of amazing events.
