The Cabildo has launched the fourth edition of the “Consume Lanzarote” campaign, which once again aims to promote local commerce with shopping cards.
Cabildo President, Oswaldo Betancort stated that Consume Lanzarote “is one of the current our firm commitments, which is increasing its investment year after year to expand the campaign’s impact, thereby also helping families to combat inflation.”
Betancort also clarified that “it is not just a campaign for economic support, but also a real commitment to our people and our merchants.” He pointed out that the dates chosen are ideal for shopping before the start of the school year or even for the Christmas season.
Cabildo Minister of Commerce, Armando Santana, emphasised how this campaign manages to channel public resources directly into local commerce, generating a positive impact on employment and the local economy: “We have increased the island’s contribution by more than €100,000, reaching half a million euros, of which €387,000 goes directly to subsidising the vouchers (last year it was €285,000). With this institutional support, we have ensured that in this new edition, citizens can purchase vouchers worth €60 for only €30, which can be used in a wide network of participating businesses in all municipalities on the island,” he explained.
3,400 more vouchers than last year
The Cabildo’s effective investment will reach half a million euros this year – most of which will go towards the sales campaign, while another part will be dedicated to the execution of the campaign (promotion, management, hiring of personnel, etc.). This will facilitate an overall economic impact of 774,000 euros, which is more than 200,000 euros more than last year.
The 2024 campaign resulted in 9,500 vouchers being issued, while the forecast for 2025 is that a total of 12,900 vouchers will be made available to the public, which will mean 3,400 more vouchers. The forecast for business registrations is also on the rise, as the Cabildo and Felapyme expect to exceed 300 participating establishments.
Each user may purchase a maximum of 6 vouchers, worth €60 each, of which the customer contributes €30 and the Cabildo subsidises the remaining €30. In this way, with a personal contribution of €180, each consumer will have €360 to spend in participating stores.
To ensure fair distribution, each participating business may receive a maximum of €6,000 in redeemed vouchers.
Key dates for the campaign
Businesses in Lanzarote and La Graciosa can sign up to participate in the Bonos Consume Lanzarote campaign from September 1 to October 31, while vouchers can be sold and redeemed from September 19 (the exact time will be announced in advance) to November 15, 2025.
All procedures must be carried out via the platform www.consumelanzarote.org
