Isabel Déniz, the Mayor of Arrecife from 2000 to 2007, was sentenced to ten years prison for corruption by a court yesterday.
Felipe Fernández Camero, ex-Secretary of Arrecife’s Town Hall, was also given a ten-year sentence in the Jable Case, while Rafael Arrocha, head of the technical office at the time, received a five-year sentence. Dimas Martín, leader of the disbanded PIL party, who is already serving time in jail, saw another two and a half years added to his sentence.
The sentences relate to several charges of bribery, in which important public contracts were awarded in return for gifts and money.
