Salvage works on the Telamón shipwreck near Costa Teguise will recommence this weekend.

Jose Fuentes of Recuperadora Lanzarote told Lancelot “This weekend we will remove the dangers in the sea and inside the boat.”

Fuentes added that, despite these actions, there will still be a wait before the full removal of the shipwreck occurs. “First, we have to make sure there’ll be no high winds or bad weather.”  Fuentes also said that bureaucratic steps needed to be completed before the ship is removed completely “We hope to get started within six months,” he added.

The Telamón ran ashore in 1981 and has become increasingly unstable with age.
