A helicopter this morning located the body of a 52-year-old woman who drove her car over the Famara cliffs at El Bosquecillo, the highest point of the island.
Emergency services were contacted last night by a resident who lives in a cave on the hillside, after he reported seeing a car pass above the cave entrance, followed by a crash and a large cloud of dust.
Firemen and Emerlan emergency workers searched the area and located the vehicle, but found no trace of a person. Authorities had already been contacted by family of the woman, who had reported her as missing yesterday.
This morning the search resumed and an emergency helicopter located a dead body on the cliffs.
