A sharp drop in temperatures accompanied the flurries of rain and strong winds caused by the tail end of Storm Regina, which has also seen hail fall on parts of the island.
In Tías, a temperature of 9.9 degrees Celsius was recorded on Monday morning. Wind speeds of 79 kph were also registered in the municipality. Elsewhere, minimum temperatures below 14 degrees were recorded.
Many parts of the island also experienced brief flurries of hail at around 3 pm yesterday, along with showers and sunny intervals.
Things are expected to improve slightly today (Wednesday), with warmer weather, gentler winds and only a 30 – 50% probability of light rain. All weather alerts have now been lifted apart from a yellow rough seas warning which will continue until 5pm.
The current outlook for Costa Teguise’s carnival parade on Saturday is much the same, although predictions of more than three days ahead are unreliable in such unstable conditions.
