Firefighters and local police in Arrecife taped off a stretch of Calle Leon y Castillo yesterday after a large stone fell from a n abandoned building, nearly hitting a woman who was passing by.
Emergency services were called to the junction of C/Leon y Castillo and C/ Pérez Galdos at 8 am after the incident was reported.
The abandoned building is one of several in this area of Arrecife, which also features extremely narrow pavements. The street is the main link between Arrecife’s city centre and the Open Mall, and plans have been announced to convert it into an “eco-boulevard”.
