The amount of solar panels on Lanzarote has multiplied tenfold in just four years, according to the Canarian Government.
In 2019 Lanzarote had 84 solar power structures; a figure that has now increased to 840, which produce around 9 megawatts. Four years ago, solar power produced just over 9 megawatts in the entire Canary Islands.
The rate of installations is also increasing, with around 20 new solar power installations every day on the Canaries.
The Canarian Government offers various grants and incentives for renewable energy installation. On Lanzarote, the Chamber of Commerce in Arrecife has a desk devoted to helping people with renewables.
