San Juan celebrations

Lanzarote celebrated the eve of San Juan yesterday with bonfire parties throughout the island.

Unfortunately, the first big fire on the island was yet another blaze at the Zonzamas dump, which was extinguished in the afternoon by three units of firemen using diggers to smother the flames.

Later, there were bonfires, barbecues, music and a few daredevil antics at San Juan parties all over the island, including large public celebrations in Haría, Puerto del Carmen, Arrecife, Playa Honda and Tías. Today is a public holiday in the municipality of Haría, whose patron saint is San Juan.
