Ryanair has welcomed the sentencing of a passenger who disrupted a flight from Edinburgh to Lanzarote last year.
The Edinburgh Sheriff Court convicted the unruly passenger who disrupted flight RK5593 on 5 July 2024 shortly after take-off by smoking, consuming his own alcohol, and verbally abusing other passengers onboard.
The flight had to be turned around and return to Edinburgh, where the man was removed from the flight. As a result, 178 passengers and six crew suffered unnecessary delay and stress.
The man was sentenced to 225 hours community service.
