A Ryanair flight from Lanzarote to Dublin had to land at Santiago de Compostela, in northern Spain, because of a medical emergency on board.

Air traffic controllers reported that the flight, on Saturday 24th January, requested an emergency landing after the condition of a passenger deteriorated. Portuguese and Spanish controllers arranged a descent and emergency protocols were activated at the Rosalía de Castro Airport in Santiago.

The passenger was evacuated on landing. Air traffic controllers have passed on their best wishes to the passenger.
