Yellow alerts are in place for rough seas on the northern coasts of Lanzarote this morning and tomorrow morning.
Spain’s weather agency, AEMET, predicts that waves of up to 4 metres could be experienced.
The alerts run until midday today (23rd March) and resume from midnight until midday tomorrow (24th March).
The Canarian Government has also issued a pre-alert for high winds on all the Canary Islands. Higher-lying areas on the western islands are likely to be worst affected but Lanzarote could also experience some severe gusts in exposed areas.
A yellow alert is the lowest level of warning and recommends that citizens remain informed and reconsider potentially risky activities. A pre-alert is issued to prepare emergency services for possible incidents.
