UD Lanzarote have achieved their aim of reaching the play-offs for promotion following a 2-0 victory over Gran Canarian side Tamaraceite on Sunday.
Mateo García’s team celebrated wildly after the resounding home victory and will now face a complicated play-off procedure for the chance of promotion to the fourth tier of the Spanish league.
The win confirms the play-off place, although Lanzarote’s final position and play-off rivals will not be known until next week. Meanwhile, the fate of Union Sur Yaiza also awaits resolution. Even if the southern team manage a win in their last game, they will rely on other results to avoid relegation.
