Rojillos knocked out of promotion play-offs

UD Lanzarote were eliminated from the play-offs to the Spanish second division yesterday after losing at the Ciudad Deportiva stadium in Arrecife.

A crowd of around 2,500 saw 90 minutes end scoreless before Panaderia Pulido de San Mateo scored a single goal in extra time. Despite valiant attempts to draw level and gain the draw they needed to progress; UD failed to register against a ten-man San Mateo side.

The result means there will not be an island derby against US Yaiza, who will face San Mateo over two legs starting on the 2nd June for the chance to play a mainland side and gain promotion.
