Last Saturday the Arrecife local police were alerted to a reckless driver that had driven through a pedestrian street while under the influence.
At approximately 11am on the morning of January 27th, local police in Arrecife were called to the Plaza de La Constitución after reports that a car had driven through the streets and later fled the scene.
Upon arrival the police found the vehicle with the doors open and the driver missing, however, inside the vehicle they found the drivers wallet, documentation and mobile phone.
An investigation was launched to find the owner of the vehicle and after gathering testimonies they were able to locate the driver.
The 50-year-old driver tested positive after a breathalyser and drug test and was subsequently charged for crimes against road safety, operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, drugs, intoxicants, narcotics or psychotropic substances, refusing to submit to tests and for reckless driving.
A court date has been scheduled today.
