Rare dolphin found stranded on Puerto del Carmen beach

A rare rough-toothed dolphin was found stranded on a beach in Puerto del Carmen yesterday.

After being alerted, members of Lanzarote’s voluntary fire brigade attended the scene, rescued the creature and transported it to the SECAC (Society for the Study of Cetaceans in the Canarian Archipelago) for observation.

The rough-toothed dolphin is a little-studied species that is almost always observed in open seas far from the shore.
