Three yellow weather alerts will be activated at midday today (Thursday 26th February).

The alerts are for rainfall of up to 15 mms per hour; winds that could reach 70 kph and possible storms.

A rough seas alert, with Gale Force 7 north/north-westerly winds and waves of 4 to 5 metres in height, will also come into force from 7 pm this evening.

The rain and storm alerts will be lifted at midnight, but the rough sea alert will continue until midnight on Friday, and the wind alert will remain in place until midday on Saturday.

The winds are predicted to be strongest in inland areas of the island, and the rough seas will, as usual, mainly affect the north and north-western coasts of the island. Citizens are advised to take extreme care around exposed coastal areas facing north.
