Lanzarote’s radiotherapy unit will begin operating on 13th December, it was announced yesterday, as politicians visited the Oncology Department at the Dr José Molina Orosa Hospital in Arrecife.

The opening of the long-awaited radiotherapy bunker will mean that Lanzarote-based patients will no longer have to travel to the Dr Negrín Hospital in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria for courses of treatment. It is estimated that around 300 patients a year will be treated on Lanzarote.

The Oncology Department at Lanzarote’s hospital has been in operation since June, with a team of specialists from the Dr Negrín Hospital visiting regularly to carry out consultations.

Here at Gazette Life, we can vouch personally for the professional care and friendly attention given at the Oncology Departments on both islands.
