Carnival kicks off at Lanzarote’s biggest resort this evening, with a gala event at the Plaza del Varadero (Old Town Harbour) at 8pm.
Two of Tias’s most glorious dancing groups, Los Guaracheros and Sur Caliente, will be strutting their stuff in feathers and sequins, accompanied by the thunderous drums of Batucada Chimbay.
At 10pm, they’ll hand over to DJ Ángel Pérez and Grupo Bomba for an open-air concert.
The big parade will take place on Saturday at 5pm, along the usual route from Barcarola to the Hotel Fariones. It’s going to be warm and sunny, although maybe a little breezy, and having seen what’s in store at the parades earlier this week, Puerto del Carmen is in for a superb display.
