Lanzarote has been placed under pre-alert by AEMET (Spain’s meteorological agency) for high wind speeds this Thursday and Friday.

With gusts that could reach up to 70 kilometres per hour, AEMET have issued a pre-alert warning for the island active today until tomorrow afternoon.

There is a 40-70% chance that such wind speeds will be experienced according to the meteorological agency and is expected to mainly affect the northeastern slopes from Haría to Arrecife.

In addition, AEMET have also forecast rain between 9pm and 3am Saturday morning in the north of the island and La Graciosa. While in other areas of the island might see very light rainfall.
