Arrecife Ayuntamiento has approved works to renovate the Plaza de las Palmas, the square in front of the church of San Ginés.
Mayor Yonathan de León said that the decision would mean that “by the second quarter of next year we should see changes in the Plaza and some of the streets surrounding it.”
The works on the Plaza de Las Palmas will include a complete renovation of the paving, which has been a constant source of complaint for years as tree roots have displaced the stones, creating an uneven, unsafe surface. It will also involve improvements in accessibility and “the incorporation of architectural elements that will preserve the historical value of the surroundings.”
