San Bartolomé yesterday announced that it has succeeded in paralysing the project to install fish farms off the coast of Playa Honda.
Mayor Isídro Pérez announced yesterday ““Thanks to our objections, the Yaizatun company must carry out a standard environmental evaluation instead of a simplified one, due, mainly, to the fact that the area for which the concession is intended is mostly within a Special Conservation Zone.”
This evaluation will be much more complex, with requirements that make it practically incompatible with the project”
Pérez also pointed out that fish farms attract sea birds, which could pose a risk to airport safety.
