Yaiza and Playa Blanca were filled with magic and excitement on Monday, as the Three Wise Men made their annual visit. Their arrival brought together residents and visitors of all ages and nationalities, creating an atmosphere of joy and anticipation.
Hundreds lined the streets of Playa Blanca to cheer on the stars of this most magical night. The air was filled with cheers, applause, and smiles as children, young people, and adults alike sought gestures from their favourite king, asked for sweets, and captured countless photos and videos of the vibrant processions.
Their Majesties travelled on camelback, accompanied by an entertaining entourage of princesses, popular characters like Mickey, Minnie Mouse, and Donald Duck, and the energetic rhythms of the southern batucada groups Timanafeiros, Yaiseros, and Ritmos del Sur.
The celebrations began in Yaiza, where a few drops of rain did nothing to dampen spirits. The lively morning parade, ideal for families with young children, started at the old gallery. It proceeded along the main street to the Church of Los Remedios, finishing at the Plaza de la Alameda. There, the Mayor of Yaiza, Óscar Noda, and the Councillor for Festivities, Daniel Medina, presented the keys of the municipality to the Three Kings.
This was repeated later in Playa Blanca at the Plaza del Carmen. Hundreds filled the pavements along Calle Jaime Quesada and Avenida Papagayo, all eager to watch the procession.
A thunderous ovation greeted the royal entourage upon its arrival. The displays of joy continued for nearly two hours as the Kings patiently met families, took photographs, and distributed sweets. Both squares also hosted pre-parade festivities with mats and children’s games, building excitement ahead of the royal arrival.
Yaiza Ayuntamiento extends its gratitude to the public for their magnificent participation and to all municipal staff for their dedicated work. Special thanks go to the many individuals, community groups, and seniors whose affection and commitment helped unleash so much joy. The council also acknowledges the essential work of the Yaiza Local Police, Yaiza Civil Protection, emergency services, and the immediate efforts of the cleaning teams.
