The Guardia Civíl arrested a 36-year-old man who is charged with committing various robberies from hotels and complexes in Playa Blanca.
The thefts took place in four separate locations and items worth an estimated €25,000 were stolen.
The Guardia Civíl launched “Operation Virgina” by increasing surveillance in hotels after the first thefts, which involved the perpetrator climbing walls, breaking windows or entering rooms that had been left open.
On one occasion, the thief dropped a bag of stolen items after being surprised by a resident while burgling an apartment on a complex. This permitted agents to establish that he was the same thief operating in hotels, as well as recognise and identify him on various security cameras.
A search of the suspects home on 25th October revealed clothing worn during the robberies and several pieces of stolen property, which are being returned to their owners where possible.
