Playa Blanca residents surprised by small hailstorm

Playa Blanca residents were surprised by a small hailstorm yesterday, despite temperatures in the high 20s.

The hail was observed falling from a small cloud at around 3pm. The resort was the only area affected, and the rest of the island experienced sunny, hot weather.

The mini heatwave is expected to continue on Lanzarote today and into the weekend.  Winds from the west, south-west, south and south-east are predicted over the next seven days, suggesting further unsettled weather.
