The port of Playa Blanca has registered its highest ever passenger throughput in 2025, according to figures released by the Cabildo.

The port, which does not yet accommodate medium-sized cruise ships, welcomed just over 1.2 million users last year, setting a new benchmark.

This record-breaking performance was driven by summer activity, with companies operating connections to Fuerteventura and tourist excursion providers serving 364,000 passengers between July and September. By contrast, the first quarter of the year saw a more modest total of approximately 275,000 passengers.

The 2025 figure marks the ninth occasion since records began in 2015 that the Playa Blanca pier has surpassed the one million passenger threshold. In addition to the surge in footfall, the port also achieved a new milestone for vehicle movements, with more than 357,000 units passing through – a 12.6% increase compared to 2024.
