The sunny southern town of Playa Blanca celebrated Canary Day in style yesterday.
Playa Blanca celebrated the day with children’s workshops, live music, traditional Canarian wrestling, dancing and more.
At the flag raising ceremony, Mayor of Yaiza, Óscar Noda, was joined by Yaiza councilmen while the Municipal Band of Yaiza played traditional music.
After the ceremony, Noda stated “we are a hospitable and multicultural land, and we want to keep alive the traditions among the people who are born in the Canaries and among neighbours who come from other parts of Spain and the rest of the world, who feel that this is their land.”
