Playa Blanca turned pink yesterday as 500 volunteers descended upon the resort to take part in the annual Walk against Cancer, organised by AFOL.
Many of the participants were cancer sufferers or their relatives, or people who had recovered from the disease. The walkers were urged on by drummers from the Timanfeira Batucada.
AFOL President Carmen Arrocha thanked the Ayuntamiento of Yaiza for their support, and addressed the regional and national governments, saying “Health is the most important element of our lives, and I urge them to find the will, the effort, the hard work and the future of our society.”
