Arrecife Ayuntamiento has licenced works to go ahead that will pedestrianise the seafront area of Playa Reducto.

The stretch of road between the Hotel Diamar and Hotel Lancelot will be permanently closed to traffic. Existing walls, curbs and pavements, will be demolished and replaced by “a new terraced wall”. Bids for the contract will be received by November 10th and the work should be finished next year.

The decision comes four years after the pedestrianisation of Arrecife’s seafront was reversed by Mayor Astrid Pérez. However, as the capital now has more than 50,000 inhabitants, it must by law have a low emissions zone.
