Papagayo voted best “secret and original” beach

Papagayo has been chosen as one of the 14 best “secret and original” beaches in Europe by users of Jetcost flight finders.

The Lanzarote beach was one of five Spanish beaches, and the only Canarian beach on the list.

Papagayo was described as “perfectly shell-shaped with white sand, emerald waters and barely any waves.” Locals, however, will be aware that the Playa de Papagayo is just one of several spectacular beaches and coves on the southern tip of the island.

The beach known as Papagayo is named after the parrot fish that were caught there by early settlers, and it has just been announced that the campsite near the beach will open from the beginning of July until the end of September.
