The Cabildo and Yaiza Ayuntamiento will carry out renovation work on the access road top the Papagayo campsite from next week.

The Cabildo will be in charge of the installation of renewable energy, water points, shaded areas and signage, amongst other works.

Meanwhile, Yaiza will work on the dirt roads leading to the beaches. “We will use existing aggregate material from the road, with irrigation and compaction to condition the surface,” said Mayor Óscar Noda.  The laws governing the protected area of Los Ajaches prohibit the construction of more permanent tarmac roads.

The campsite, with 236 spaces for mobile homes and tents, opened on 5th July and is currently at 30% occupancy, although it’s expected to be full during August.
