Overcrowding at the Volcán del Cuervo

Complaints about inadequate parking and tourist “saturation” have spread to the Volcán del Cuervo.

An Instagram poster called Rebenke Conejero posted photos of the car parking area near the volcano on Saturday, showing that it was completely full and sone cars had parked by the roadside.

“What the hell is this? Where are the police?” the poster commented, concluding “We are dying of success”.

The Volcán del Cuervo was adapted for tourist visits several years ago, with a pathway and a parking area. Nevertheless, until fairly recently it was a little-visited attraction. The overcrowding reflects not just an increase in tourism, but also the increased desire of tourists to explore the island and the power of social media.
