Follow-up oncology consultations will now take place at the Dr Jose Molina Orosa hospital in Arrecife, rather than patients having to take trips to Gran Canaria for reviews.
Up until now, cancer patients would find themselves having to take trips to the hospital in Gran Canaria for oncology consultations as the Dr Jose Molina Orosa hospital did not have the capacity or equipment for them.
As of this Monday, patients will now be able to have their follow-up consultations take place at the hospital in Arrecife, not needing to take a flight to Gran Canaria for every appointment. However, trips to Gran Canaria will still take place for treatments.
The hospital has received new technology that allows the staff to facilitate some of the care to cancer patients on Lanzarote. The integration of the new equipment will require a team of experts from Gran Canaria to visit regularly.
