Damián Martínez and Tessa Kortekaas were the winners of the Ocean Lava Lanzarote race, which took place on Saturday in Puerto del Carmen.
The race took place on a day when heat and and absolutely still conditions offered little relief to competitors. Spanish runner Damián Martínez, who is based on Lanzarote,, completed the triathlon in 4:26:37.
The women’s winner was Tessa Kortekaas. The Dutch athlete led from the start and finished the race in 4:49:7 – almost 30 minutes faster than her nearest rival.
Over 500 athletes took part in the event , at which Kenneth Gasque was once again present to welcome everyone.
