The procession of the Virgen de las Nieves (Virgin of the Snows) was cancelled yesterday due to strong winds on the Famara cliff top.
As usual, hundreds of pilgrims had made their way to the lonely church, on foot, by donkey and even clambering up the cliff face.
Finally, the image of the virgin was brought to the door of the church, where Teguise parish priest Juan Manuel Molina declared that the procession would not take place because of high winds. Instead, the image remained at the door while the band played and pilgrims offered their devotions.
