Canarian Hospitality have announced the opening of another hotel in Playa Blanca in 2025.
The company, which already operates the MYND Yaiza Hotel Playa Blanca and the Radisson Blu Resort Hotel in Costa Teguise, owns two other hotels on Tenerife and Fuerteventura, and is planning three new projects over the next three years, including the Playa Blanca hotel.
No further details of the project have been provided but the arrival of the new hotel, along with the soon-to-be-opened four-star Barcelo Hotel with 720 beds, will reinforce Playa Blanca as the most important centre of hotel tourism on Lanzarote.
While Tías’s main resort of Puerto del Carmen still receives more tourists, it has far more “extra-hotel” establishments, which do not offer complementary services. The last figures available , from 2021, showed that Yaiza had 17 hotels and 10,527 hotel beds, compared to Tías’s 15 hotels and 8,272 places.
There are currently around 64,000 tourist spaces available on the island; still fewer than the peak of over 74,000 ten years ago.
