NASA yesterday published a photo of astronaut Jessica Wittner taking photographs in the volcanic tunnel of La Corona in Haría.
The photo shows the astronaut using an adapted Nikon Z9 camera which will be used in a few years’ time when astronauts on the Artemis 3 programme land at the south polar region of the moon. NASA published the photo to announce their contract with Nikon.
The Artemis 3 project will be the first-time humans have set foot on the moon since 1972, 50 years ago.
The camera has been specially adapted to withstand heat and extreme cold and designed to be operated by users wearing thick gloves.
