Earlier this year, the top part of Manrique’s Monument to the Farm Worker in San Bartolomé was removed for repairs after high wind speeds affected its structural integrity. Now, the monument will be removed in its entirety for repairs after rust was discovered within the structure.
Large parts of the monument have already been removed in sections and, while there is no date for when the structure will return, work to repair the structure will be conducted as quickly as possible. The cost involved in repairing the monument will be assumed in its entirety by the CACT.
The rest of the monument will be dismantled and moved to storage this week and the repair works will begin immediately.
