The Cabildo and Arrecife Ayuntamiento have announced their intention to renovate the waterfall at the Charco de San Ginés.
Designed by César Manrique, the waterfall is situated next to wooden walkway on the eastern side of the capital’s famous lagoon, but it has not been finctioning for several years.
Arrecife Mayor Yonathan de León said “This marks a new beginning for the image of the Charco. Manrique’s works remain ever-present in our daily lives and it is a source of pride to be able to enjoy our capital.”
The legacy of Manrique in the capital has been topical since a recent video by local celebrity Maxi Ferrer highlighted the neglect and dilapidation of many of Manrique’s works in Arrecife.
