A busy weekend lies ahead on Lanzarote, with rock, folk and rap music, street theatre and one of the island’s favourite sporting events.  

Tías’s puppet and circus festival, Titiritías, will take place over the coming weekend. The Plaza El Pavón open-air amphitheatre, tucked away at the corner of C/Libertad and the Avenida Central, will be the scene for most events.

Tonight, will feature events in support of Palestine, a dance performance at 7.30 and a “battle of polkas” at 9pm. Tomorrow will see a circus workshop in the morning and performances by clowns at 12.3o, 5.30, 6.30 and 7 pm, with a puppet show in the Tias theatre at 10 pm.

On Sunday morning at 11.30 am, Jorge Costa will present body improv at the theatre, followed by a clown show at 5.30 and a 6 pm.

In Costa Teguise, the Bio Ritmos folk music festival will take place tonight, with performances by Celtic folk group Milladoiro from Galicia, Fuerteventuran timple player Davíd Rodríguez and his Contraventura project, and the Afro-Canarian group Makasi. 

The event starts at 9 pm tonight in the amphitheatre at Playa las Cucharas, and entry is free.

In Uga, Saturday and Sunday brings the annual Wine Run. The kids Winerun will take place on Saturday at 11 am and adults will be able to pick up their numbers for the following day at the Recinto Ferial. There’ll also be live music from midday to 7 pm.

The race itself will take place on Sunday at 8.30 (long distance) and 9.30 (shorter distance and walk) with live music all morning and prize-giving ceremonies at 1 pm and 2.30 pm.

Arrecife will hold the first two concerts in its Lava Live festival on Friday and Saturday. Tonight’s headliners are Cuban rap group Orishas and Puerto Rican rapper Residente, while tomorrow evening will bring Mexican rock legends Maña. Tickets are still available at €43 upwards.
